Take on an immune challenge and save lives!

Take on a challenge this June to support your immune system! And while you do, raise some vital funds for life-saving medical research.
Because when you support your immune system, your immune system supports you!

Choose an active challenge...

Physical activity is great for your health and wellbeing – it’s also great for your immune system! Moderate activity can boost your immune response, keeping your immune system alert and ready to protect you. Keeping active is also key to reducing obesity. Obesity is linked to chronic inflammation which can cause your immune system to get overworked and less able to protect you from infection and disease.

Here are some ideas:

  • Switch out the car or bus and run, cycle or walk to work each morning.
  • Get out in nature and tackle some amazing treks around New Zealand.
  • Set a fitness target and chip away at it over the course of the month.
  • Encourage people to donate by setting moving targets (such as kilometers walked) by amount of donations recieved.

...or choose a healthy living challenge

Your immune system is like a fine-tuned machine – one that needs to be cared for regularly! How you feel is just as important as how healthy you are, and goes hand in hand with a happy, healthy immune system.

Things like diet, rest and even mental wellbeing can all have a positive impact:

  • Challenge yourself to cut out sugar or junk food.
  • Give up drinking or smoking for a month.
  • Set yourself the goal of daily yoga or mediation to improve your mental health and mindfulness.
  • Do a technology detox for those of us addicted to our screens!
  • How about a mindfulness hobby, such as knitting or cooking, you can turn into a fundraising activity?

"The Malaghan Institute is committed to finding better treatments for disease through their research into the immune system. And just as importantly, they’re committed to making these treatments accessible to all New Zealanders.

But they can’t do this alone.

By supporting their research, you are giving hope to people like me, now and into the future, that they will have the best chance available to fight their disease."
